Ready for Hilton Fall Festival – Oct 22
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Ferndale 115 News, 9/30/2011)
Autumn is a great time for the Eastside to shine, especially as businesses along Hilton come together with the Ferndale Area Chamber of Commerce, Ferndale Recreation and Angel Kisses for the Hilton Fall Festival on Oct 22. This year’s festival is headlined by Garden Fresh Salsa, who is helping to underwrite the effort.
Hilton will be blocked off, and from 10 am to 6 pm along Hilton Road between I-696 & Lewiston, there will be carnival games, face painting, hayrides, pony rides, a costume contest, trick-or-treating, concession sales, an arts & crafts fair, rock climbing wall and more.
In addition, the event will kick off with a 5k race along Hilton Road to benefit Angel Kisses. The “Dress like Devils & Run for the Angels” 5K race begins at 9am just south of 10 Mile Road. Race details can be found here: www.angelkisses.org.
Admission is just $5 per person and includes all the above activities at no additional cost except for food & vendor purchases.
Chamber Executive Director Jennifer Roosenberg is busily gathering sponsors, volunteers, and vendors. “This is truly a community-wide effort,” she said. “It shows how the city and the local businesses can work together to do that is fun for the kids and gets families out to meet some of the Hilton business owners.”
Jeannie Davis, President of the Ferndale Seniors, is organizing their volunteer effort. This year the Seniors will be selling raffle tickets, cider and donuts.” It’s just the funnest thing,” Davis said. “I stopped by last year just to help for a couple of hours, and I sat at the booth all day watching the cute little kids going by with their costumes.”
