Ferndale Post Office Sets Public Meeting to Discuss Potential Closing

Postal customers in Ferndale are receiving notices of a Community Meeting with the USPS (United States Postal Service) to discuss the potential closing of their Ferndale location at 22681 Woodward Ave.

The meeting will be held at the Kulick Community Center at 1201 Livernois on Thursday, September 29, 2011 from 6pm-8pm.

The letter states:

“This office is being studied due to declining office workload and the availability of alternate sites nearby that provide the sale of stamps and the mailing of most package items.  …If a decision is ultimately made to discontinue the Ferndale Branch and you are a Post Office customer you will have the option of Post Office Box delivery at the Oak Park Branch, or you may receive carrier delivery at your residence.”

The Dollar Castle at 200 W. 9 Mile also sells stamps and is an approved shipping location for the USPS.
