Reception to Welcome April McGrath Sept. 12
(Crystal A. Proxmire, The Ferndale 115 News Wire, 9/5/2011)
Ferndale has a new City Manager, and if you’d like to get to know her some there will be a free public reception at the Ferndale Public Library on Monday, September 12 from 6-7pm.
April McGrath took over for Interim City Manager Mark Wollenwebber on August 1. Prior to coming to Ferndale, she was the Assistant City Manager in Ypsilanti.
In June the Ferndale City Council interviewed three candidates for the position. “She will fit in here in Ferndale. She’s got the personality for it,” said Mayor Dave Coulter
Councilperson Melanie Piana did some checking before making up her mind. “I made some reference phone calls and I am impressed with the skill set she brings to Ferndale,” Piana said. “April has deep experience in human resources, and we’re looking to do restructuring of staff priorities. She also has significant experience dealing with a similar city with declining resources. She brings a sense of creativity that we’ve been looking for.”
