How else are you involved in the community?

I volunteer for FernCare Free Clinic Inc., Downtown Development Authority, Ferndale’s Pub Crawl and Blues Festival, as well as other community events.  I am also a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church.

Why should people vote for you?

People should vote for me as I will be their voice on City Council.  I will work to ensure responsible fiscal decision making and fight to eliminate any unnecessary or non-value added spending.  I will promote progressive policies that promote the distinct culture in Ferndale, ensuring that our diverse community remains open and welcoming.  I will support responsible economic development while strengthening neighborhoods and making sure people are heard in city government.  I will also put a high priority on promoting environmentally responsible policies.  It is critical that the decisions made today place Ferndale on the forefront of economic recovery and the improvement of property values.

Why have you choose to run for this office?

I have a great passion for Ferndale and this community.  As a community activist I have been able to help contribute to the quality of life in Ferndale and want to continue that work on City Council.  This community has been very good to my family and I want to give back and provide leadership for Ferndale’s future.

Is there any issue or vote that you disagree with that Council has made?  Why?

I m not running for City Council because there is one issue that I am concerned with or have a significant grievance with Council.  I am running to promote positive growth and sustainability in Ferndale.  I will bring credible experience to my role as City Councilman and want to apply those skills in making Ferndale successful.  While I have not always agreed with every expenditure that Council has approved over the years, I am capable and responsible enough to add my voice to decision making in those areas

What would you do differently?

I think there are opportunities to improve communications with residents and the business community, implementing a more comprehensive communications strategy to do so.

What key qualifications do you bring to the job:

I am responsible, collaborative and a team player.  I have been a leader in the community supporting many organizations and civic groups.  I have a strong educational background in economics and public administration.  I have been in leadership positions in the private sector for 17 years and can bring that experience to Council.  Most of all I am invested in the long term success of Ferndale as a home owner and advocate of the City that has become home.
