Fallen Tree Closes Fielding, Damages Car
(Proxmire,6/17/2011)
Nearly a dozen DPW employees convened in the SW side of Ferndale to clean up this morning after a gigantic tree fell from a yard in the 300 block of Fielding. The tree landed on the vehicle of a neighbor, and blocked the street with a mess of limbs, leaves, and a trunk that needed to be removed in sections. The workers chain-sawed and chipped the tree apart while neighbors came out of their homes to watch.
The tree fell at approximately 2:30am, waking Fielding resident Tara Grey. “I thought someone was breaking in, but then I heard the people upstairs moving around. They looked outside and then came knocking on my door,” she said. Of all the cars parked on the street, hers was the only one with obvious damage. Grey says that insurance should cover the cost of replacing the crushed roof and broken windows.
The tree fell from a yard three houses away. The tree had fallen over with roots pulled right out of ground.
