An Evening Under the Poppy: A Benefit for the Ferndale Public Library and Queer for Books
An Evening Under the Poppy is a fabulous celebration and author talk hosted by Blumz by JR Designs and Queer for Books, featuring author Kathe Koja that takes place June 3, 2011.
Please join the Ferndale Public Library’s new GLBT book club, Queer for Books, for cocktails, appetizers, live music, and Victorian punk fun to begin your Pride Weekend!
Under the Poppy, June’s featured book, is the critically-acclaimed story of two men in love and war, at a notorious Victorian brothel theatre. Under the Poppy has also been adapted for an immersive stage presentation. Buy your copy of the book at this event, meet author Kathe Koja, and receive a specially autographed copy of the stage show script at the following Queer for Books meeting.
Tickets are $30, available in advance at the Ferndale Public Library and Blumz, and $40 at the door. All proceeds are tax deductible, and will benefit the Queer for Books Collection at the Ferndale Library. And your ticket stub is your ticket to the event’s after party at Menjo’s! Tickets can also be purchased online here. The event takes place June 3 from 6:30pm – 9:30pm at Blumz at 503 E. 9 Mile.
