New Grasshopper Pub will be Hoppin’ with April 2nd Record Release Party as Mo 2 Meaux 2 pairs Ferndale Sounds with France
(Crystal A. Proxmire, 3/27/2011)
House Gallery will be hosting a record release party for metro Detroit based record label Soiree records on Saturday April 2nd and Grasshopper Pub in Ferndale (formerly Gracie’s Underground, 22757 Woodward). The 21+ party begins at 9pm and there is no cover to attend.
The album Mo 2 Meaux 2 features a mix of House Music and Deep Techno by Detroit & French DJ / Producers Drivetrain and Ferndale natives J. Garcia. Adam Francesconi and Jay Ramsey of House Gallery will be opening the night.
Francesconi and Ramsey started House Gallery in 2007, and the pair of high-energy DJs will be playing an opening tag set, where they will alternate songs before introducing the album. The Headliner for the event “Drivetrain” is founder of the label that is releasing the new record. His label Soiree was founded in 1990 and he frequently tours Europe playing techno and house music.
House Gallery is also featured twice a month at the new modern Irish bar, providing the beats for dancing on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month. Francesconi is excited about changes made by the new owners of the property. “The new Grasshopper Pub has added 4 new tvs with a less clubby and more of a lounge atmosphere. They have added more speakers to the place rounding out the sound in the place.”
The album is the culmination of local artist’s passion and their connection with artists from overseas. “Mo 2 Meaux 2 rejoins the 2 transcontinental cities, Detroit/Motor City with Meaux, France. Mo and Meaux may have similar sounding names, but musically speaking, the deep, plush grooves created are unmistakably unique,” says the album description. “Drivetrain’s “Lift Me High” sets the tone with a techie, electric odyssey. Lush pads and smooth vocal samples top off a rumbling acidic bassline converging in a resonance of distinction. J. Garcia’s Soiree debut, “One Day” brings the dream to life. The melodic chords behind the syncopated bass is unquestionably Detroit, including samples from the famous “I Have A Dream” speech and it’s magic. CloudMasterWeed returns with the dark and energetic, “Wicked System.” The female chant perfectly defines the mood, while the aggressive minimal rhythm section seizes your body.
‘From Paris, Professor Inc joins Team Soiree with “Sizzle.” The sample manipulation, fx and high tech wizardry demonstrate that the professor has spent much time in the lab.
Mo 2 Meaux 2 conclusively validates the presence of this accomplished series.”
