Police Arrest Youth Involved in Car Attack

On 02/28/11 at about 6:20  p.m. a 20 year old man was walking on Ferndale side streets at Martin near Chestnut when he was struck by an oncoming 1992 Mercury Cougar. The driver of the Cougar veered towards the victim and as the car approached, the passenger opened his door into the pedestrian. The blow knocked the man down. Fortunately, he suffered only minor injuries and his eye glasses were broken. The car then fled the scene. The next day, a Hazel Park police officer spotted the suspect vehicle and notified Ferndale PD. A Ferndale officer then located the car and stopped it. The vehicle was driven by 18 year old Richard FLOWERS of Ferndale. The passenger who opened the door was 17 year old Lance KATULSKI of Hazel Park.

Both young men were charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon.

They were arraigned by Magistrate Brennan who set bond for both at $2500 cash/surety.

 

 

The COMPLAINING WITNESS says that on the date and at the location described, the defendant, contrary to law,

did make an assault upon XXXX with a dangerous weapon, to-wit: an automobile, but without intending to commit the

crime of murder or to inflict great bodily harm less than the crime of murder; Contrary to the statute in such case made and

provided and against the peace and dignity of the People of the State of Michigan.

FELONY: 4 Years and/or $2,000.00; DNA to be taken upon arrest.
