Community Breakfast a Successwestern mkt

(Ferndale Schools, 2/5/2011, previously published in Ferndale Schools E News)

Ferndale Schools host an annual breakfast for realtors and members of the business community. This year, the district partnered with the Ferndale Area Chamber of Commerce to co-host the event and welcomed the largest number of guests, more than 60, in attendance since the event began nearly a decade ago.

U.S. Congressman Sander Levin was in attendance and shared his impression of the students and told them how pleased he was to meet them. With standing room only, following a delicious breakfast prepared by Ferndale’s food services department (thanks to Chef Jeremy Burean and Food Services Director Laura Shields), the guests were welcomed by Ferndale Superintendent Gary Meier and Ferndale Area Chamber of Commerce President Jerome Raska.

The highlight of the event, every year, is the opportunity for Ferndale Schools students to speak about their experiences as students in the district. The students, pictured above, sat with the guests. They represented Ferndale High School, University High School and Ferndale Middle School. Gary Meier says, “It was great to have so many people see how strong our programs are and how well we prepare our students for success. They are very impressive young people.”
