Sweetheart Date Night at Rec. Center Plus Free Dinner at the Emory
Friday, Feb. 11th
Every year the Ferndale Recreation Department holds an event for girls age 15 and younger to bring their father, grandfather, uncle, brother, family friend etc. out for a dinner and a dance. The fun goes from 6-9pm at the Kulick Center (1201 Livernois) on Friday, Feb. 11, 2011. The cost is $9 and includes dancing, refreshments, crafts, a balloon drop, a flower for the young lady and a photo with her “date.”
As a special bonus, The Emory (22700 Woodward) gives free dinner for the young lady, including a beverage and dessert, upon showing the receipt for the Sweetheart Date Night. The offer is valid Feb. 11th only between 4 and 6pm.
The free dinner tradition began last year when Chris Johnston, owner of the Emory, approached the Recreation Department with the offer. “I took my daughter last year and had a great time. I wanted MORE people to go,” he said. The event attracts girls from toddler-age to early teens, and gives them a chance to be the center of attention for the evening.
The deadline to register for Sweetheart Date Night is Feb. 10. Sign up online at http://www.ferndalerecreation.org/Search.aspx?search=sweetheart&cn=4009&mode=all, or stop by The Kulick Community Center at 1201 Livernois between 10am and 3pm, Monday through Thursday.
