The winner of four Tony Awards, “In The Heights” is musical that builds on the best traditions of theater while forging into fresh new territory. It is a musical about the importance of home, family and finding where you belong. In the Heights tells the universal story of a vibrant community in Manhattan’s Washington Heights – a place where the coffee from the corner bodega is light and sweet, the windows are always open, and the breeze carries the rhythm of three generations of music. It’s a community on the brink of change, full of hopes, dreams and pressures, where the biggest struggles can be deciding which traditions you take with you, and which ones you leave behind. “In The Heights” continues its run at Detroit’s Fisher Theatre February 8-13.
Linda Lexy has been a staple on the Detroit music scene for many years brilliantly taking on the roles of broadcaster, DJ, emcee and event host throughout her career. Lexy is currently a Feature DJ at the Motor City Casino’s Radio Bar every Friday and Saturday where she broadcasts live and casino-wide from 6-10 p.m.
Singer/songwriter Steven Mullan Homegrown in the Glass City, 22-year-old singer-songwriter Steven Mullan is already taking off with an arsenal of songs. Fresh off the college circuit at Miami University, Mullan’s songs take you on a journey both musically and lyrically. Having already performed on tours with A.R. Rahman (recent Golden Globe and Academy Award Winning Composer for Slumdog Millionaire), jazz legend Dave Brubeck, Australian star Mia Dyson, and Ekoostic Hookah, Mullan now brings along his own band as well, playing his originals, but having a wide range of covers from Stevie Wonder and Elton John to John Legend and Ben Folds in the repertoire. Inspired by artists such as The Beatles, Stevie Wonder, James Morrison, and Marc Broussard, his shows are powerful, yet intimate—you’ll tap your feet to his grooves and relax into the crafted melodies of his slow tunes.
