(2/1/2011)
The Michigan Printing Week Association, an organization of printing and graphic design professionals across the state, has named Tony Pelc of Ferndale-based Allied Printing Company, as its Person of the Year.
The award was given at the 28th annual Printing Week Association banquet, which honors businesses, educators and individuals. Honorees received a Ben Franklin award, named after the “father of American printing.”
“It was unanimous for us to nominate Tony for this award,” said Nick Wagner, president of Printing Industries of Michigan. “He’s an all around great guy who is willing to donate time and assistance in promoting the industry. He also is great at encouraging others to get involved.”
Pelc has been employed by Allied for nearly 30 years and is well-known for his community involvement with several local non-profits and his knowledge of the printing business.
He currently serves as Allied’s vice president of operations, where he oversees all production. He is credited for piloting the growth and transition of Allied’s business from a black and white conventional offset printer to a progressive organization, which offers its clients a diverse collection of custom print communication services.
