Just Snow You Know…

Where to get information on Snow Emergencies and School Closings

(Crystal A. Proxmire, 2/1/2011)

Several news outlets are reporting dramatic snow stories.  We’ll spare you the drama and give you the facts:

PARKING AND PLOWING:

~The City has issued a Snow Emergency Warning that effects parking on all streets within the city.  As of 6:00pm Tuesday, February 1 the City of Ferndale will enforce a “Snow Emergency”.  The parking ban will remain until all streets are plowed curb to curb. Parking tickets of $100 and vehicles being towed, at the owner’s expense, are possibilities.

~The City of Ferndale DPW (Department of Public Works) typically only plows side streets when there is a snow emergency.  A snow emergency is when there are four or more inches on the ground.  Municipal lots must be clear of cars if there is two or more inches to be cleared.

~The City of Ferndale website http://www.ferndale-mi.com/ has information about snow emergencies and other announcements affecting the City.

SCHOOL CLOSINGS:

~Ferndale Public Schools closing information can be found at http://www.ferndaleschools.org/parents/schoolclosing.html.  According to the site “All official emergency school closings will be announced on local television channels Fox 2, WDIV-4, and WXYZ-7, and radio stations WJR-760 am, and WWJ-950 am, and on the district Fact Phone at 248/586-8651.
