Changes on Library Board – Warner Resigns, Gagne Re-Joins, One More Spot Open

(1/28/2011)

Ann Warner, Trustee of the Ferndale Library, resigned from the board effective January 23, 2011.  The Board accepted the resignation at its January 27 regular meeting.

While she did not give a reason for her resignation, Warner did say that she is considering  volunteering for the Ferndale Time Bank and for FernCare.  “I’m sure there are other possibilities, since Ferndale is the kind of place that does so much to help others and create a strong sense of community,” she said.  “I might even write some articles for ferndale115 if I’m asked to. And – there will be more time for my photography! I truly enjoyed my time on the board and am proud to have played a part in creating that beautiful new building. I wish the board all the best.”  Warner is a civil rights attorney and a professional photographer, whose work can be found at http://annwarnerphotography.blogspot.com/.

The vacancy created by Warner’s resignation creates an open seat on the library board.  The board will appoint an interim successor to serve until the next election. Persons interested in being appointed to the seat should send a letter outlining their qualifications and stating why they wish to serve on the board.  Letters should be addressed to the Ferndale Library Board and may be sent via e-mail to ferndale.libboard@gmail.com or may be mailed to or dropped off at the library’s bookdrop at 222 E. Nine Mile Road, Ferndale, Michigan 48220.   The deadline is February 11, 2011. Applicants will be interviewed by the board on February 17th at 7:00 PM, at the Library.

The Ferndale Library Board has selected Tiffani Gagne to fill the seat vacated by Sarah Parmelee, who resigned on October 29, 2010.

Gagne will serve until the general election in November, 2011 at which time the voters will select the person to fill out the remainder of Sarah Parmelee’s term.  (To read more about Parmelee’s resignation, go to http://oaklandcounty115.com/2010/11/01/parmelee)

The Library Board also voted to appoint Gagne at its monthly meeting on January 27, 2011.

Board president John Sterritt said, “Tiffani has been an enthusiastic and capable member of the Board in the past, and we are very pleased to be working with her again as the library moves forward.”

Gagne said, “I’m very honored and excited to serve on the Library Board and thank the Board for their confidence in me.  Our library expansion project was a great success and I’m looking forward to the re-opening in February and being part of all the great things the library has to offer our community.
