Jeannie Davis Roast to Benefit Community Foundation Nov. 19
(Crystal A. Proxmire)
Jeannie Davis, longtime Ferndale resident and President of the Ferndale Seniors, is going to be on the hot seat on Friday November 19th in a local-celebrity roast to benefit The Ferndale Community Foundation and the Ferndale Seniors.
Davis has been active in Ferndale for as long as anyone can remember. She’s served on the Arts and Cultural Commission, Board Secretary of Community Foundation, Friends of the Library, Ferndale Democratic Club and active in campaigns including co-chairing Craig Covey’s recent County Commission Campaign and Chairing Greg Pawlica’s unsuccessful run for City Council last year.
She is known to be an avid painter and a reading enthusiast. Those are her good habits. If you want to hear all about her bad ones, you’ll have to come to the roast, where all of Ferndale’s best-knowns could be the victim of bad jokes and painfully honest observations.
Mayor Craig Covey, Community Foundation President Dan Martin, Greg Pawlica, Francine Hachem, Dean Bach, and Dick Willcock are among the presenters. Dinner will be provided by Rosie O’Grady’s, Dino’s and Western Market. Tickets are $25 or $15 for Seniors. Call Dan Martin at 248-672-4067 to reserve yours. The show will take place at the Ferndale Elks (22856 Woodward). Doors open at 6:30pm and the show begins at 7:45pm.
The Ferndale Community Foundation has enabled many groups to develop and complete projects that enrich the lives of Ferndale residents. Over the past seven years they have contributed over $35,000 to projects such as providing start-up assistance to FernCare Free Medical Clinic, support for public art, drug education and prevention, and Ferndale Youth Assistance. For a complete list of their charitable giving, please check out their website at www.ferndalecomunityfoundation.org.
The Ferndale Seniors is a group of active older folks who live in the City or come back to visit. They share low-cost lunches and plan trips and activities.
