October 28th The 2nd annual Hijinx and Hilarity Concert was presented by the FHS choirs and orchestras to a packed auditorium. The concert featured music from Night at the Museum, Ratatouille, The Mask of Zorro, Enchanted, Hairspray, Glee, and a Disney musical medley. There was also a costume parade and candy for all audience members who came in costume.
This was not an ordinary concert, including students using paper instead of bows (for one number), Ben Moy, Orchestra teacher and Roger Smith, FHS Assistant Principal, dueling across the stage in Zorro outfits, costumed choir members searching for a stolen jewel, and a rousing rendition of the Beatle classic “Hello, Goodbye” as a show stopping concert closer.
Fun was had by the audience and the performers. “This is a concert where we like to let loose a little and have some fun. We play music which is on the less serious side and work in skits to tie things together. It’s a great way to get people who wouldn’t normally come to an orchestra concert to come out and check out what we do. It’s also a great opportunity for younger kids to come and see how much fun being involved in orchestra can be. It’s also a lot of fun for me because I get to get dressed up in crazy outfits and do fun stuff like sword fight with Mr. Smith,” said Moy.
The choir and orchestras next perform at the Autumn Voices Concert on November 20th followed by the FHS Choir Winter Concert on December 15th and the FHS Orchestra Winter Concert on December 16th.
