SOARing to the Conservative Side of Ferndale

(Crystal A. Proxmire)

Though Ferndale is well-known for its predominantly Democratic voting base and liberal organizations, there are conservatives who call the city home.

Lifelong Ferndale resident Sean House is the President of SOAR: The South Oakland Area Republican Club, which meets at the Berkley American Legion.  The group often has visits from key Republican and conservative leaders from throughout the state, as well as discourse about issues that matter to conservatives throughout Oakland County.

“The South Oakland Area Republican Club is not just for Republicans,” said House.  “There are many Conservatives, Independents and even Conservative Democrats who attend and share their views. We average an attendance of 60-85 per meeting. All opinions are welcome and our mission is simply to open a dialogue so the citizens in southern Oakland County have a voice.”

“Ferndalians make up a good percentage of our meetings,” He said. “Hope to see you there!”

The next open meeting will be the Christmas Benefit Party on Friday December 3rd, at the Berkley American Mother fletchersLegion (12 Mile bet Woodward & Coolidge) where they raise money and collect non-perishable food items to give to families in Southern Oakland County in need.

House is committed to the idea of open communication, and takes pride in offering video clips of meetings on the groups You Tube page – http://www.youtube.com/user/SOARclub#p/c/7C99767903D7BE3B.  His recent rapping introduction of Mike Bouchard at a meeting on Oct. 7, 2010 was well-received by the conservative crowd, and is sure to land his group some website hits.
