Hip Hop Flute Artist and More Coming to Ferndale
(Jeffery Zook, President Southeast Michigan Flute Association)
Ferndale, MI, October 24, 2010: The versatile Greg Pattillo along with his passionate, high energy chamber music ensemble PROJECT Trio will be giving a workshop and concert Sunday, October 24, 3:30 p.m. at the Ferndale First United Methodist Church, presented by The Southeast Michigan Flute Association – SEMFA, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the flute and flute playing.
Flutist Greg Pattillo experimented with beat boxing on his flute to get the attention of passersby while busking in New York subways. Beat boxing originated in hip-hop and is a technique of making drum sounds vocally. The experiment worked so well that Pattillo’s You Tube videos have now been viewed more than 20 million times.
PROJECT Trio members Greg Pattillo, cellist Eric Stephenson and bassist Peter Seymour, blend their classical training with an eclectic taste in musical styles to create an innovative musical experience that has attracted listeners of all ages.
The event begins with a demo-workshop at 3:30 where PROJECT Trio members will demonstrate their techniques, followed by a 4:30 performance. Afterwards, audience members will have the opportunity to meet the members of PROJECT Trio and take part in a silent auction to benefit SEMFA.
Tickets are $8-$24 online at www.semfa.org or at the door. Ferndale First United Methodist Church is located at 22331 Woodward Avenue in Ferndale. For more information, contact Jeffery Zook – President Southeast Michigan Flute Association president@semfa.org 248.701.8868
