Police Report: Marijuana Grow House Busted, CVS Has CD Stolen

10-2270 – Marijuana Grow House
On 09/25/10 at approx. 0410 a.m. police responded to the 400 block of W. Chesterfield on complaints of a barking dog. Officers arrived at a home with a barking dog in the back yard. They tried knocking on doors and windows, but nobody answered. The police noticed a door to the house was opened. Concerned for the welfare of anybody inside, police entered the home. They found a 44 year old man asleep and hard to wake on the couch. In the house officers noticed signs of a marijuana grow operation, including a grocery bag partially filled with suspected marijuana. After police got the suspect to wake up, he allowed them to look through the home. Officers found that the basement was set up as a grow operation for marijuana. The Oakland County Narcotics Team (NET) was called to continue the investigation. Once the investigation is completed, it will be turned over to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s office for review.
10-2287 – Retail Fraud / Gun Implied
On 09/27/10 at about 8:00 p.m. Ferndale Police responded to a report of a theft that occurred at the CVS store on E. 9 Mile. Store employees reported that a middle aged w/m had just stolen a CD from the store. A female employee reported that she confronted the man as he left the store; he pushed her and said that he had a pistol. Officers found the suspect on a bicycle trying to hide behind a dumpster at the rear of the store. They found the man did have a CD and magazines from the store. He was arrested (no weapon was found).
The suspect, JEFFREY ALLEN BRENBERGER, 50 yrs, w/m, Pontiac address, has an extensive history of convictions dating back to 1980. These convictions include 10 larcenies, weapon offenses, and more. Brenberger is currently out on parole and will be turned over to the Michigan Dept. of Corrections after being processed in Ferndale.
