Library Opening, Announces New Board Member

On Monday, February 21, 2011 the Ferndale Public Library will reopen at 9:00 am after being closed for repairs. “We’re truly looking forward to this event,” said Douglas Raber, the Library Director. “The new building had been open just long enough for us to see what kind of potential it had before we had to close because of the flood.”

Sweetheart Date Night Memories

Ferndale Recreation hosted this year’s Sweetheart Date Night on Friday, February 11 at the Gerry Kulick Community Center. The recreation department paired up with the Emory to offer guests a special, Sweetheart Date Night menu for a delicious dinner prior the dance. Many couples took advantage of the special and enjoyed a wonderful dinner beforehand.

Former Mayors See Coulter into Center Seat

Dave Coulter was sworn in as the 17th Mayor of the City of Ferndale at the City Council meeting of Feb. 14, 2011. He was surrounded by supporters from throughout the community, including previous Mayors Pamela McCullough (1994-1996), Charles (Chuck) Goedert (1996-2002), Robert (Bob) Porter (2002-2008), Craig Covey (2008-2010), and Kate Baker who served as Mayor Pro Tem during the weeks following Covey’s resignation.

Free Animal Control Service by County…

Oakland County is in the process of revamping their Animal Control Division to account for an expected increase in cities using their services. The massive restructuring has come about due to officials in Ferndale learning that 39 communities have been enjoying service from the County for free, while 22 municipalities have been managing it themselves at their own expense.
