There are now artsy murals on the walls, sculptured architectural features, fascinating tree-branch lights hanging from extra high ceilings, and a stage in the center of the building and live music that adds to the ambiance….

Ferndale Artists Among those at Craft Revival

The Handmade Detroit Craft Revival at The Loving Touch on April 19, 2011 kicked off Green Week in Ferndale. Over two dozen vendors sold arts, crafts, jewelry and other unique items in a fun, family-friendly setting. Crafters from all over SE Michigan gathered for the event, including several Ferndale artists.

Giant Easter Bunny Hides Eggs Around Ferndale

The eggs contain coupons and rewards for those three establishments. There will be dozens of eggs hidden now through Easter.

Senator Gregory Visits Ferndale Public Library

14th District State Senator Vincent Gregory, who is from Southfield but represents Ferndale and other neighboring communities, visited the Ferndale Public Library on Thursday, April 14, 2011 to meet with constituents to discuss the State budget and other concerns. Tomiko Gumbleton, Ferndale City Councilperson and current aide to State Representative Ellen Cogen Lipton, was also on hand to answer questions. A handful of interested residents turned out to meet with the Senator.

New Fire Truck Arrives Safely

On Monday, April 11, 2011, Ferndale City Council approved the purchase of a new aerial fire truck. On Wednesday the engine arrived safely and firefighters were able to begin testing it out.

Transition Ferndale Seeks Those Who Want a Sustainable Future

Budget Meeting #3 – April 6, 2011

On April 6, 2011 The Ferndale City Council held its third official budget planning session. Council meets every Wednesday starting at 6pm to discuss how to keep spending in line with revenue. One factor is that an election on May 3 will determine if residents are willing to accept a temporary property tax increase to support City services.
