Yet in this legislative session alone, over 140 bills have been introduced that directly affect women’s rights in Michigan,” said Kate Morgan of Ferndale. “We believe that in order to make positive change for women, we need more women’s voices in Michigan’s political sphere.”

Your Neighborhood Professor Series starts Nov. 2 at Library

Got a hankering for some knowledge? Your neighborhood professor has got you covered! Beginning Nov. 2, the Ferndale Public Library will launch a three-month program featuring local professors speaking on an area of their expertise. The free program is designed to bring the professor to the public in an informal environment.

Bond Committee Gets Tour of FHS Troubles

Troubles lurk above and below at Ferndale High School, as multiple repairs and projects have the School District exploring the possibility of asking voters to approve a 7 mil bond extension. The public vote is expected to be in February 2012. If approved it would extend the taxpayers’ obligation from 2023 through 2033, and would generate approximately $26.5 million for the District to use on multiple infrastructure projects.

2010 Police Department Annual Report Released

School Board Picks New President, Appoints Other Positions

After over ten years, Chuck Moeser has stepped aside as President of the Ferndale Board of Education, with Keith Warnick stepping in. They also set the dates for future meetings, made appointments to Board committees and external committees, and handled other routine annual decisions.

Council to Vote: Cell phone payments for parking

On Monday, July 11, 2011’s City Council consent agenda is a plan to contract with Parkmobile to allow a person parking in Downtown Ferndale to use their cell phones to pay for their spots instead of having to fumble for quarters to feed the meter.
