Downtown Ferndale businesses will be open late this Third Thursday, December 15 for Merry Midnight Madness. Take advantage of the late night shopping opportunity by taking advantage of the coupons below. In addition to late night shopping, gift givers can have their purchases wrapped by the Relay-for-Life team, stationed at Rosie O’Grady’s.
The community input meeting takes place on Monday, Nov. 21, 2011 from 6:30pm-8pm at Woodward Avenue Candy Shop (23337 Woodward). Cristina Shepard-Decius announced the event at last Monday’s council meeting, saying “We want to find out business needs for Woodward Avenue. How do you interface with businesses that are along there?”
One of the season’s first chilly nights was made merry by the Downtown Ferndale’s Third Thursday Light the Night Event. Businesses along 9 Mile and Woodward got decked in a way they haven’t for years, with an abundance of lights and festive window displays.
Despite the deceptively warm weather, winter is coming and it’s time to get Downtown Ferndale lit up and decked out for the holidays. On Thursday, Nov. 17 Downtown Ferndale will have a Light the Town event from 6-9pm along W. 9 Mile Road.
Ferndale merchants are preparing for the Halloween season, with traditional spooky-themed costumes, decorations, candies and foods in preparation for Halloween, Day of the Dead, and the changing of the seasons in general.

This weekend is the Funky Ferndale Art Fair in Downtown Ferndale. This juried competition brings in artists from around the state and even other parts of the country. On September 16, 17 & 18 Downtown Ferndale will be full of art, music and energy as thousands will flock to the city for the DIY Streetfair and the Funky Ferndale Art Fair.

On Monday, July 11, 2011’s City Council consent agenda is a plan to contract with Parkmobile to allow a person parking in Downtown Ferndale to use their cell phones to pay for their spots instead of having to fumble for quarters to feed the meter.
Those who were unable to attend the “Back to the Future” event, there will still be opportunities to share your vision and ask questions. When the proposal comes before council there will be opportunity for public discussion. There will also be a survey on the DDA website in the coming weeks, along with more information about the TIF plans.
“Back to the Future of Downtown Ferndale” is the topic for discussion at a community open house taking place on Wednesday, June 29 from 5-8pm at Valentine Vodka at 161 Vester. This free event (with refreshments provided) will give businesses and residents an opportunity to share in the vision of the future along with the Downtown Development Authority (DDA).
Together again, local artists Steve Brook and Daniel Cascardo present their expanded custom guitar exhibit at The Rust Belt Market at an opening this Saturday, June 18 from 11 A.M. to 7 P.M.

On Thursday, April 21, 2011 The Cupcake Station opened at 301 W. 9 Mile. The Cupcake Station offers a large variety of specialty cupcakes made fresh each day from scratch. As part of their Grand Opening Celebration they gave away 500 free cupcakes. As American Pop! (175 W. 9 Mile) prepares for their final Going out of Business Sale, the struggling novelty and collectibles store has been hit with another blow to the business. On Tuesday, March 15, three thieves orchestrated a “til tap” operation on an unsuspecting clerk, clearing the register of over $300.
