On 2/13/12 at 0052 hours a Ferndale Officer was patrolling west on W Eight Mile passing Laprairie when he saw a black Jeep Liberty approaching Eight Mile. He slowed and pulled to the curb just west of Laprairie. The driver of the Jeep drove over the center median and fled east on Eight Mile and south on Woodward where the officer caught up to the car. Ignite Detroit And The Lessons Learned There

Well to give you a little background, Ignite is a speaking forum event that began in Seattle and has slowly made it’s way around the country. It features various speakers from all walks of life and they give a speech. Some are hilarious, others are quite serious. They have 5 minutes featuring 20 PowerPoint-like slides that switch every 15 seconds so it really keeps the speaker alert. This was the second year for the Ignite event in Detroit… and I almost didn’t go.

Ferndale has proven to be a strong consumer of environmentally-conscious products, according to local food service products business Michigan Green Safe Products. Matt Naimi, General Manager of Michigan Green Safe, says that Ferndale is one of the best places to do business in, with Royal Oak, Ann Arbor and Midtown in Detroit also providing them with a good base of customers.

Painting with a Twist Gives Back to Detroit

Painting with a Purpose will take place on Sunday, February 27 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The cost is $45, with up to 60 percent of class proceeds to CCSS. Participants will leave with a work of art done on a quality canvas, done well thanks to the help of step-by-step instructions. The featured painting is called “The Prayer” and has dark figures praying amid beautiful green foliage.
