“We’ve found that there are four central themes that came up over and over,” Fleetham said. Those topics, which are now the focus of the planning moving forward, are enrollment, race, trust and collaboration and achievement gaps between student groups.
“From a background perspective, the district experienced a significant enrollment shortfall, primarily at the Digital Learning Center, that resulted in a loss of approximately $3.5-million in state aid. More specifically, the district experienced a loss of 449.21 full-time equivalent students from the number projected for this year.”

Early numbers indicate that voters in the Ferndale School District approved a $22,825,000 bond in Tuesday’s election. This means that most residents will continue paying around the same amount in taxes that they used to and the schools get money to improve facilities.
On February 28, 2012 voters in the Ferndale School District will be asked to vote on a School Bond. There are still opportunities to come out and talk with neighbors about the issue.

Ferndale Schools host an annual breakfast for realtors and members of the business community. This year, the district partnered with the Ferndale Area Chamber of Commerce to co-host the event and welcomed the largest number of guests, more than 60, in attendance since the event began nearly a decade ago.
