With so many variables in the City’s financial future, the Ferndale City Council has decided to delay acceptance of a $851,164 SAFER (Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response) grant that would allow them to re-hire four laid-off firefighters for a period of two years.

Students are invited to submit essays between 250 and 500 words by March 28 through Congressman Levin’s congressional Web site (www.house.gov/levin/womenshistory.shtml). Students are asked to submit an essay identifying a woman that inspires them. They are welcome to write on a historical figure, a contemporary figure or someone in their own families.
