Downtown Ferndale will be buzzing next Third Thursday and into May’s third weekend with back to back activities that embrace two of the district’s best features – bikeability and walkability.

No Contests for Library Board so No August Election

“The filing deadline for Library Board candidates expired at 4:00pm, today,” said Ferndale City Clerk Cherilyn Tallman in a statement released on May 10, 2011. “We will have no contests for any of the five open seats. That means we will not have an August Primary.”

Kids’ Stolen Bikes Replaced by Ferndale PD & Community

Sixteen year old Scott May was at school when his bike was stolen. “I was at soccer practice and I came out and it was gone,” he said. May was one of ten Ferndale youth who got to have their stolen bikes replaced thanks to a fundraiser organized by officers of the Ferndale Police Department.

District-Wide Art on the Town May 21, Gallery Night June 4

The Ferndale Schools is proud to announce a district-wide visual arts event, Art on the Town. Organized by parent volunteers and visual arts teachers, Art on the Town brings 1,000 pieces of student-created art to businesses in downtown Ferndale. On Saturday, May 21, from 12-4 pm, artwork will be on display and for sale for all to enjoy. The district invites the public, parents and friends to embark on an artistic adventure as you visit student exhibitions at local merchants along both 9 Mile and Woodward Avenue.

Retiring After 25 Years in The Ferndale PD

Doggie With Shaved Legs Found on Hazelhurst

On the evening of May 10, 2011 a dog was found lingering in the yard of 506 W. Hazelhurst. The family living there has been sitting outside with the dog, hoping that the owner will come along.
