Officers Recognized for Crime Solving Skills

Several Ferndale Police Officers received commendations and citations for service at the Dec. 28, 2010 City Council meeting in relation to shooting incident in November.

Interim City Manager Candidates to Interview Jan. 6

City Manager Bob Bruner will be leaving his position here in Ferndale to take the City Manager position in Birmingham, with his last day being Feb. 11, 2011. Ferndale City Council will be interviewing three candidates to see who will make the best interim City Manager.

Waggs and Wishes Animal Rescue, located at 521 E. Cambourne, has many dogs and cats that need fostering and/or permanent adoption. The organization stepped up in 2010 after the City eliminated animal control services, and has been saving lives ever since. Committee Recommends Headlee Override

The Financial Planning Committee held a public meeting on Dec. 29, 2010 to present options to residents for balancing the city’s budget, recommending that Council puts a Headlee Over-Ride on the ballot for the residents to vote on. The presentation was just a rough draft of what the Committee will be presenting to Council, who will make the ultimate decision of how to move forward.

This has been a fun and interesting year for wine. We’ve been able to hone our selection even further, sussing out good deals where there were thought to be none, fighting to get products desired but not previously available in Michigan brought in, and most importantly of all, helping the customers at Western Market find real wine that they can connect with.

FABulous Entertainment on Dec. 29

The Ferndale Schools Fine Arts Boosters is gearing up for their second annual fundraising variety show, which they call “A Night of FABulous” entertainment. Performers of all kinds will be there, many whom are Ferndale Schools students, parents and alumni. This is the second annual FABulous show, creating a tradition of raising money to help students excel in the arts and music while also showcasing the talent in our community.

Police Catch Theives in Two Separate Incidents

On Thursday, December 23rd at about 10:30 a.m. burglars broke into a house on Allen between Fielding and Gardendale. There was also a police chase from thieves at Western Market that ended with suspects crashing into a home in Detroit.

Fire Consumes Hazel Park Home

December 24th 2010

Just after 8pm on Dec. 22, 2010 Ferndale Police and Fire Departments were called to 23123 Berdeno Ave. in Hazel Park to assist the neighboring fire department with a home engulfed in flames.
