A Tribute to School Food

The food revolution is on in Ferndale Schools. When Coolidge and JFK Schools got slushees in the cafeteria last week, few knew that the ever-changing sweet treat is really made from 100% fruit. Other changes have been made over the past few months which have been subtly introducing more and more healthy food into the breakfast and lunch of students in the district.

Ferndale Blues Festival Comes Jan. 28- Feb. 5

Three Residents to be Interviewed for Mayor Position

At the council meeting of Jan. 10, 2011, the Ferndale City Council considered the applications of twelve individuals and selected three to interview for the position of Mayor, which is open since former Mayor Craig Covey became elected to County Commission and had to resign the post.

VFW Hall Shooter Convicted of 1st Degree Murder

After a weeklong jury trial in Oakland County Circuit Court before Judge Sosnick, the jury came back convicting the murderer who used a shotgun at a “Sweet 16” birthday party for two girls at the Ferndale VFW Hall.
