Quartette Art Show Opens at Level One

Santa Visits the Holiday Showplace

The Annual Holiday Showplace is a large craft fair that takes place at the Kulick Community Center and benefits Ferndale Seniors. The event is never fails to attract an eclectic variety of artists and crafters, each of whom brings not only their products, but also their smiles and holiday cheer.

Community Meetings on School Bond Issue

The Ferndale School District is moving forward with plans to put a $22,825,000 bond on the February ballot. The bond is an extension of current bonds with the taxes collected to be used for improvements to the School’s multiple buildings and property. There will be several meetings over the next two months to discuss the needs of the District with members of the public. Superintendent Gary Meier will be on hand to share information about the District moving forward.

FernCare Bowl-A-Thon Tops $4,000

The money raised goes towards operation of the FernCare clinic, which currently provides free medical care to over 50 patients. The clinic has a paid medical supervisor and a team of volunteers, including a pharmacist and security, to provide basic medical care to those who cannot afford it.

Get Your Motorcyle Ready for Winter with Class

The classes are a new way for the creative experts who use Paper Street to share knowledge about whatever they do that is useful. On Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011 it will be Todd Ethridge teaching “Intro to Motorcycle Maintenance, Care & Winterizing Your Bike.” Ethridge is the owner of McBee’s Motorcycles, located in Paper Street. The class runs from 6:30pm-8:30pm and costs $30. The class is appropriate for beginners and even though with years of experience can benefit from a refresher and tips from a pro. Vigil, Film & Quilt Panels Remember Those Lost to AIDS

Heck’s red rose was back in the Detroit area on Friday, Dec. 2, 2011 as part of Affirmations AIDS Memorial. Four 12 x 12 sections were on display in the community center in Downtown Ferndale, containing panels that originated in the Metro Detroit Area.

Max Fisher to speak at free luncheon for MAC

The talk will be a donation-based lunch, with the first 60 to RSVP enjoying food from the Matt Prentice Restaurant group. The lunch will be held at the MAC headquarters at 429 Livernois in Ferndale on Dec. 15 at noon. There is no charge, but donations are suggested.
