Senate Passes Anti-Gas Chamber Bill for Animal Shelters

…gas chambers are still in use in four SE Michigan County-run shelters: Branch, Berrien, Cass and Van Buren counties. Most shelters use lethal injection to put down sick or unadoptable dogs and cats.

The bill will now move on to the House of Representatives for a vote.

Clinical Relief Case Continues: Charges Reinstated

The charges had been dismissed, but Oakland County Clerk Jessica Cooper appealed. The Court of Appeals issued their determination Sept. 10, reinstating charges and sending the case back to the Circuit Court level. Charges are related to possession and intent to distribute marijuana.

Annual Perennial Exchange Saturday

There aren’t many places where Mother Nature has a good return policy, but here in Ferndale the annual Perennial Exchange gives residents a chance to dig up the plants they don’t want and trade them with other gardeners for some they may like better. The annual event will take place on Saturday, Sept. 14.

What is Funky Art? Art that doesn’t just sit there and look pretty. Yes, there will be traditional paintings but the focus of this show is on work you may not see at other events. The festival is a juried show, over 300 artists from across the country applied for the 120 open spots.
