Police Report: Racing on 8 Mile with a Pistol

Officers made contact with the driver and returned to their patrol cars to run computer checks. One of the officers notices suspicious movement by Williams and watched him from outside of the car. Williams had a handgun (Smith & Wesson revolver) and tried to hide it under the car seat. The officer arrested Williams.

Karen Twomey on Education Legislation

Unfortunately the planned legislation does not end here. Early in the next year I will be asking for your help again as Lansing will be considering a draft bill replacement for the School Aid Act. The Oxford Foundation has released a draft bill for consideration most likely around February. This bill will completely replace the School Aid Act and rewrite the way we fund public education by creating a public voucher system.

Paczkowski, Robert J. “Bob”, 86, a longtime resident and former Mayor of Ferndale, died Sunday, November 25, 2012 in Waterford.

Ferndale Pride Gives $10,000 to Local Charities

In just its second year, Ferndale Pride was able to raise $10,000 to give to local charities. Michigan AIDS Coalition, Affirmations, the Dyke March and the Ferndale Community Foundation each received part of the $10,000 total.

Stocking Hop Shops Benefit FernCare Dec 6th

Each location will have a nifty swag bag made especially for the event to fill up with great gift giving goodies. The bag is available for a donation of $2. The money collected will be donated to FernCare Free Clinic.

Transgender Detroit Transitions into GNA

City Sells Former Impound Space to Search Optics

With timing that Councilperson Melanie Piana called “serendipity,” Ferndale City Council agreed on Nov. 13 to sell a former impound lot to Search Optics at 1938 Burdette. The lot is right next to their current parking, in the recently remodeled building tucked away by the railroad tracks near East 9 Mile and Hilton.
