Detective Needs Votes to Sing National Anthem, Grant for Police Dept.

Ferndale Detective Brendan Moore is the finalist in a National Anthem Singing Contest being held by Comerica Bank, with a chance to sing in front of an upcoming Detroit Tiger’s Game.

The prize also includes a Ticket package and a $10,000 grant for the Ferndale Police if Moore wins.

Vehicle Smashes through Basement Wall, Driver Still at Large

The witness described the driver as a white female in her 20s or 30s who appeared to be intoxicated. The vehicle was said to be a gold-colored Buick Century or a similar model that now has quite a bit of damage to the front of it.

Ferndale Schools Begin Year with Changes

Superintendent Gary Meier sent out a Back to School Welcome Letter, also posted on the Ferndale School’s website, which details some of those changes. These include increased breakfast and lunch prices, reduction in the availability of classes and activities, a switch to Common Core teaching standards, and changes to security protocols.
