UHS Info Session Announced, Friends of UHS Forming

Among their many accomplishments since UHS opened in 2004, students have won Robotics competition trophies, participated in an award-winning Innovative Vehicle Design (IVD) competitions through the Convergence Education Foundation, and recently received state and national recognition for DECA marketing club competitions.

Each year they meet in a series of special sessions to go over the specifics of the budget, which includes revenues and expenditures from each department. The meetings are public, but they are not recorded or broadcast.

226 Patients Served: FernCare’s 2011 Successes

FernCare, the community-created free health clinic, has finalized it’s numbers for 2011, and the results show that people are benefiting from this massive grassroots project. They saw 226 patients, 94% of whom thought the clinic was helpful.

Songs from the Moon and 3773 will play a set each on Fri. Apr. 6. Songs from the Moon will also be releasing a 7” at the show entitled Protest Strategies in two formats: CD and 7” with CD at The Ferndale Public Library (222 E. 9 Mile) beginning with doors open at 6:30 pm.

Six Month Community Collage Project Begun at Affirmations

So far about a dozen people have participated, and the project is growing quickly. The workshop is free to attend, and organizers are hoping for people to donate items.

Relay for Life Informational Event

Organizing has begun for this year’s Relay for Life. The annual 24-hour event has teams from all over Ferndale and beyond taking pledges and all night to remind people that cancer never sleeps.
