Ferndale Watchdogs Call for High Noon Candidate Meet Nov 5

The Ferndale First Government Watchdog Group has invited candidates to attend a town hall style forum, moderated by the group’s organizer Sean House. The meeting will be Saturday, November 5, 2011 at “high noon,” says the email promoting the forum.

Ferndale’s Part in the Occupy Movement

Occupy Ferndale soon followed, with a three-hour long peaceful demonstration at the corner of 9 Mile and Woodward. Occupiers filled every corner, with estimates of 100-150 at the peak time. The show of solidarity was organized by County Commissioner Craig Covey, who listed some of the Occupy Wall Street Movement’s frustrations with the current economic situation.

Leaky Roof Destroys 500 Coats for Kids, Dino’s Steps In

Dino’s Restaurant & Lounge, located at 22740 Woodward Avenue in Ferndale, Michigan, will park their catering truck in front of the restaurant in attempt to fill it with new or gently used coats sized (boys and girls) small-XXL, to replace 500 coats that were destroyed when water came through a damaged roof and settled on this year’s supply of coats that were slated to be given to children who are housed at Oakland County Children’s Village shelter “Mandy’s Place.”

Occupy Detroit Continues

Occupy Detroit followed on October 14, conceived at the first General Assembly at Spirit of Hope Church on Trumbull on October 10. The first event was attended by approximately a thousand people, workers and students and community from this city of industry, where once powerful factories controlled the pulse of the city but now the people are wrapped in poverty.
