First off, expectations about sushi should be left at the door. “Sushi is not just raw fish,” Taylor said. “People always think that.” Grab & Go offers vegetarian rolls as well as traditional rolls – some with fish and others without. There are even some original gourmet creations that will shock and delight the sushi connoisseur.

Organized by Transgender Michigan, the event is large but simple. They brought in the burgers and dogs while guest brought a side dish to pass. A small auction and a jar for donations raised money to cover the cost.

The spirit of Ferndale is moving eastward as organizers come together for the first Annual Hazel Park Pub Crawl. The event, scheduled for August 26, 2011, will take participants on a drinking tour of the city. The Hazel Park Pub Crawl will raise money for the Hazel Park Promise Zone, an initiative that hopes to provide every eligible Hazel Park student with money to go to college.
