Bonnie Gibson doesn’t usually “do the whole group thing,” but she did make the trek across the border from London, Ontario to attend her first Transgender Pride in the Park, which took place Aug. 4th at Geary Park in Ferndale.

The bill, H.R. 6129, titled the Ban the Use of Credit Scores in Auto Insurance Act, would amend the Fair Credit Reporting Act so that reports on consumer credit can’t be used in the underwriting process.

As each nurse entered my sister’s room it became obvious if they were just in a job or really in their element. The nurse’s comfort level in her knowledge was evident in her teaching and explanations. And I respected that. I needed the information. My sister needed it. With the facts came a pathway to change, and with the teaching the nurse lit the way.

Election Results:
The Arts Millage Passed in all three counties. In Oakland County it passed by 63.68%.
The SMART Bus millage got renewed with 79.24% voting in its favor.
Hazel Parks Schools voters passed two millages, each with about 57% of the vote.
And Helaine Zack has won the Democratic primary for County Commission. She will face Republican Steve Zimberg on November 6. …

The Annual Sierra Club Green Cruise takes place on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012 with a variety of mass bicycle rides to choose from. The Green Alley is the grand finish line where bicyclists and other visitors can enjoy samples of healthy foods and talk to various vendors. There is a Green Parade celebrating human-powered modes of transportation, and there are often unusual costumes, bicycle decorations and unique pedal-powered contraptions.

Around 3pm on Friday, July 27 neighbors reported smoke coming from the transformer, which was mounted on a wooden electrical pole in a resident’s back yard. People in the surrounding homes were evacuated while Ferndale firemen monitored the situation, waiting for DTE to come.
