Art is for Everyone Picks Ferndale for HQ

The building is the Oakland County Headquarters for the Art is for Everyone Campaign, whose goal is to encourage support of the Aug. 7th ballot proposal to provide taxpayer support for the Detroit Institute of Arts. The millage will cost the owner of a $150,000 home about $15 a year, and the money will be used to operate the museum and its programming.

Inside Out: DIA Artwork Comes to Ferndale

The Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) has named participating communities for the next round of Inside|Out, which brings high-quality reproductions of masterpieces from the DIA’s collection to the streets and parks of metro Detroit. The reproductions for this round will be on view from July 3 to Sept. 30. The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation is sponsoring the program for 2012 and 2013. Ferndale has six pieces up around Downtown, which is also a perfect tie-in to the on-going ARTWN theme.
