Hazel Park, MI – A fire damaged a section of town homes under construction in Hazel Park Monday night. At around 10pm firefighters from Hazel Park were joined by those from Madison Heights, Ferndale, and Royal Oak at the scene of the new Robertson Brothers development on Woodward Heights just east of John R. The unoccupied building had a frame and walls, but did not yet have gas or electricity turned on.
The cause of the blaze is still under investigation. There are no known injuries. The flames destroyed a short row of the in-progress townhomes, and melted the siding on the next building over.
When asked about the fire, City Manager Ed Klobucher told Oakland County Times that “The cause is still being investigated. The main concern right now is making sure the structure is secure and that there aren’t any hot spots that could flare up later. We want everyone to be safe.”
Klobucher is proud of the teamwork that came together to put out the blaze. “Our Hazel Park firefighters did an outstanding job along with our partners in mutual aid. We’ve got Ferndale, Royal Oak, and Madison Heights out here helping, Everyone working together.
