Reporter Food: Drifter Coffee in Ferndale
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Sept. 30, 2021)
Ferndale, MI – Drifter Coffee in Ferndale is a business that has grown from a camper serving coffee to a beautiful eclectic space near the railroad tracks on Woodward Heights with a variety of tasty items and a spirit of welcoming inclusion.
Their website lists their values: respect for all humans, understanding of intersectinality, and damn tasty coffee.
Unfortunately I’m not a coffee drinker, so I’ll just have to take the word of friends who swear that it is fantastic. For my recent visit it was a beautifully blended cherry lemonade that I sipped, pairing well with the key lime pie.
The baked goods change daily, and they aim to always have vegan and gluten-friendly options.
For beverage there are a variety of coffee and tea options, including espresso, cortado, cappuccino, latte and iced coffee options. There is Calder whole milk, Califia oat milk, and Milkadamia macadamia nut milk, as well as a selection of house-made syrups one can add in.
With COVID Drifter has stuck to outside seating, which is is more than just a collection of picnic tables and garden furniture – it’s a creatively designed space with flowers, art, vintage seating, plants and more so visitors feel like they are in the middle of a place that is the place to be for creative, coffee-loving people.
Check out this inviting space at 770 Woodward Heights. Read more about Drifter at www.driftercoffee.com
