Sept 11-12 – HollyDays in Downtown Holly

Holly, MI – An ax-wielding Carry Nation impersonator, a community play day, live music downtown and vintage baseball games are just a few of the events that will draw a huge crowd for the 2021 HollyDay celebration — now in its seventh year Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 11,12.

Unofficially, HollyDays got its start as the Carry Nation Festival many years ago, celebrating this American prohibitionist who was famous for using a hatchet to demolish barrooms. But its most recent re-incarnation as HollyDays actually kicked off Sept. 16, 2015, when the village of Holly celebrated its Sesquicentennial.

HollyDays now holds its official spot on the community’s calendar, always in September on the weekend after Labor Day and the weekend before Applefest in Fenton.

This year HollyDays falls on a very significant date, being also the twentieth anniversary of 9/11.  2021 festivities will specifically incorporate tributes of remembrance and honor for First Responders. We plan to reflect on the important roles our own first responders have in our community. This day will focus on acknowledging them for their dedicated service to the people of Holly.

Gather together downtown, at 8am, as we begin our festivities with a prayer for our First Responders. And special tribute to our first responders in our annual HollyDays Parade. This year’s Grand Marshals will be Holly Police Chief, Jerry Narsh, Holly Fire Chief, Steve McGee and NOCFA Chief Jeremy Lintz. We hope to see our entire fleet of First Responder vehicles represented in this year’s parade as well as a fly over from the medical rescue helicopter.

Watch for shuttles all over town to get you and your family to all the places you want to go during HollyDays. Also, watch out for Carry Nation impersonator Karen Craner at the Depot Tours, who might be harassing people imbibing in too much alcohol or other misbehavior
