April 8 – Skywarn Spotter Training Program (Online)

The Skywarn Spotter Training Program is an annual effort to save lives during severe weather emergencies by expanding networks of spotters and by encouraging the widest possible participation in tornado warning programs. Skywarn Weather Spotters provide valuable information to the National Weather Service by reporting storm damage, precipitation, and other observed weather phenomena. All interested parties including fire, police, EMS, security, and volunteer citizens are encouraged to attend.

Skywarn Spotter Training classes will be held virtually this year. Visit the National Weather Service website at https://www.weather.gov/dtx/spotter2 for details and registration links. All classes are free and open to the public. You must be age 13 or older to report weather incidents, but classes are appropriate for ages 10 and up.

Skywarn webinars will be held on the following dates:

Saturday, March 20, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Wednesday, March 31, 7 p.m. – 9 p.m.

Thursday, April 8, 7 p.m. – 9 p.m.
