Shop Local Ideas: Clawson Makers Market

(Crystal A. Proxmire, Nov. 23, 2020)

Clawson, MI- Clawson Makers Market opened their doors in 2019 with a business designed to feature local artists and brands. And they have hung in through the pandemic thus far, navigating shut downs and safety precautions to continue giving local vendors a place to share their work while art fairs and expos have been cancelled.

Their retail space at 808 W. 14 Mile in Clawson has items by over 60 artists, and for the holiday shopping season they’ve added a popup location at 1060 W 14 Mile Rd (upstairs from Haberman Fabrics), bringing the artist count up to over 80.

Among all that talent are artists like Finnie Bird Authentic Handmades, Artisanal Luna, Five Mile Studio, Uniquely Different Jewelry Creations, Blooms and Baubles, Buttons and Beads 13, The Sleeping Dragon’s Den and many more. We even found lavender sachets from Urbane Farm among the goodies in this eclectic store.

Typical gift ideas include candles, soaps, magnets, and jewelry.

There’s a lot of local love too. Fans of the Tigers or those colleges with the green and white or maize and blue logos will find several items in honor of their teams. And there’s a lot of local love too – with Clawson-themed magnets, posters, note cards, and woodcut art featuring a map and the 48017 zip code. Royal Oak and Detroit have some representation among the items as well.

Plus there is a lot that is simply charming or beautiful.

Clawson Maker’s Market is located at 808 W. 14 Mile Rd. in Downtown Clawson, with the “Bonus Bazaar” at 1060 W 14 Mile Rd.
