Reporter Food: The Lunch Cafe in Downtown Berkley
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Dec. 11, 2020)
Berkley, MI- The Lunch Cafe at 3116 Twelve Mile Rd in Downtown Berkley is a popular place for housemade soups, salads, and sandwiches. I’ve written about them in the past, featuring their Chicken Salad Sandwich, and I was happy to go back for an encore of my favorite – The Skinny Jimmy.
This grilled panini sandwich has fresh sliced ham, Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato and a creamy, tartar-like sauce.
I paired this with the soup of the day, which was mac and cheese soup – a creamy cheese soup with noodles floating about.
I also had a Michigan Salad topped with dried cherries, crumbled bleu cheese, walnuts, and housemade raspberry vinaigrette dressing.
Because of social distancing, TLC is focusing on carryout orders, with an efficient and safe way to grab an easy lunch to go.
The menu is full of options.
Other sandwich choices include the Tuna Melt, the Cheesy Caprese, the Jalapeno Popper, The Clubbin’ Wrap, the Veggie Wrap and many more! The soups change daily, and for salads there’s a roster of customer favorites including It’s All Greek to Me, the Maurice, and Totally Veggie.
