Nov. 22 – Virtual Chanu-Con! Chanukah Festival
Oak Park, MI – Congregation Beth Shalom of Oak Park’s Fifth Annual “Chanu-Con!” will take place virtually this year on Sunday, November 22 from 1 to 5 p.m. The festival is one of the Detroit area’s largest Chanukah-themed events, providing fun, activities, shopping, and entertainment for all ages. Admission this year is $5 per household and open to the community, both in Michigan and beyond.
Chanu-Con! will feature a variety of virtual activities, including cooking and baking demonstrations, children’s activities, entertainment, vendors selling Chanukah and holiday gifts, and a 50/50 raffle.
“For our fifth annual event, we are pleased to welcome Safrai Fine Art Gallery of Jerusalem. Featuring the finest in Israeli art, the gallery’s collection includes original oil paintings, watercolors, original lithographs, and etchings designed by over 100 different Israeli artists,” said Beth Rodgers, event coordinator. Twenty percent of all proceeds from the art gallery sales will directly benefit Congregation Beth Shalom.
New activities and entertainment for children include a yoga session by Nature’s Playhouse of Ferndale, an art session for kids by a kid, an interactive, engaging Chanukah presentation with puppets and character impressions, and a Royal Princess event with the Snow Queen. “We’re thrilled to be able to bring the joy of Chanu-Con!, even though virtually, and continue adding new activities to the event,” Rodgers said.
Chanu-Con! has been generously sponsored by local businesses and organizations, including Bernard Wealth Management, Cohen Lerner & Rabinovitz Attorneys, Nature’s Playhouse, Lincoln Rx Pharmacy, Dave Enerson Handyman Solutions LLC, and Adrienne Berlin Design.
Admission to the event is $5 per household, with vendor gifts and art gallery items available for purchase. 50/50 raffle tickets will be available online that day. For more information, including full activity, entertainer, and vendor lists, visit the event Facebook page at bit.do/chanucon2020
