Marigolds Needed for Immersive Art Project in Hazel Park, Event Oct 23-24

Hazel Park, MI – The immersive Marigold sculpture project to benefit the Jardon Vocational School is nearing completion, with the opening to the public Oct. 23-24. More marigolds are welcome to help make this project the best it can be. Drop off by Oct. 23.

This past spring the West End Hazel Park Business Coalition  shared marigold seeds with Hazel Park and Tri county community to grow marigolds to be cultivated in the fall for the project. There are over 200 growers bringing flowers to be part of the display. Over 100 of those are from Hazel Park and Ferndale.

“But we think we will need more,” said organizer Richard Gage of Richard Gage Design Studio – the location of the project. “We have a 2500 square foot outdoor space for the installation. This is an immersive journey leading you to a sculpture made of blooms.  I’m hoping you can put out a call for marigold blooms.”

For those that have flowers they want to donate, the Marigold Project website says “Bring as many blooms as you can.  Leave 6-10 inches of stem.  Drop off location is in the empty lot next to Gage Design Studio at 425 W. 9 Mile Road in Hazel Park.  Mask and social distancing required.”
