Oct 17 – Volunteers Needed to Plant Trees in Beverly Park, Beverly Hills

Beverly Hills, MI — ReLeaf Michigan, a statewide non-profit tree organization, in partnership with the Village of Beverly Hills and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources – Urban and Community Forestry Program is looking for volunteers to help plant 18 trees in Beverly Park on Saturday morning, October 17th.

Organizers are looking for volunteers for this project, which will help restore the park after a 2-year effort to remove dense growth of buckthorn and dead trees. Families are encouraged and welcome to participate in the event. ReLeaf Michigan’s tree experts will be on hand to oversee the event and help volunteers learn how to correctly plant and maintain the trees.

COVID protocols are in place and will be followed.  Volunteers are asked to sign up as a ‘family’ or a ‘team’ of 3 or 4 people who have been socially distancing together.  Masks are required.  Volunteers are asked to wear closed-toe shoes, comfortable clothing and bring your own tools and work gloves if they have them. Social distancing will be observed.  The group will meet in the pavilion of Beverly Park, 18801 Beverly Road, Beverly Hills, MI 48025 at 8:45 a.m. to sign-in and enjoy refreshments. Volunteers will then watch a planting demonstration from ReLeaf Michigan’s tree experts.

Event occurs rain or shine. No planting experience is necessary, and families are encouraged. Join us for the morning and leave an environmental legacy that will add to the beauty and health of your community for generations. We hope to see you there!

Trees provide incredible benefits to the communities in which they are planted. Trees improve air and water quality, reduce stormwater runoff, improve mental wellness, reduce rates of childhood asthma, cool our neighborhoods and enhance the community’s commercial and economic vitality.

ReLeaf Michigan, a 32-year-old non-profit organization, partners with communities statewide to replenish community tree canopies through volunteer tree planting events.
