Sept 19-26: Rochester Hometown Hustle 5K and Color Fun Run – Virtual

ROCHESTER, MI – The Rochester Community Schools Foundation invites families to keep the Hometown Hustle 5K and color run tradition going strong. Join in the fun as community members run/walk together, virtually, and support the schools!

The 15th annual event is a treasured tradition that celebrates fitness, unity and community, while serving as the principal fundraiser for the RCS Foundation. This year, proceeds benefit the Rochester Community School District’s commitment to the social-emotional well-being of all RCS students.

“As we celebrate our 15th anniversary of running together as a community, we will make every effort to provide elements of the treasured tradition ‘experience’ even though we will be unable to gather together in person,” said RCS Foundation Director Joann Beydoun.

Online registration is open. To register, go to:  https://rcs-foundation.org/events/hometown-hustle/. Participation in the Hometown Hustle, presented by Chief Financial Credit Union, will start on Saturday, Sept. 19, and continue thru Saturday, Sept. 26.

All registrants will receive a race package that includes a race medal, bib and t-shirt, along with sponsor takeaways. The deadline to receive a filled race package is Friday, Sept. 4, at 11:45 p.m.

What is a virtual race? A virtual race enables participants to run at any location, at their own pace, outside or on a treadmill, alone or with family and friends. It supports staying active while running for a great cause. Participants can also receive medals and fun swag.

“Last year, the Hometown Hustle attracted more than 1,300 participants,” said RCS Foundation Chairman Bob Justin. “We invite families to break the record and reach 2,000 participants and make a difference in the lives of all RCS students! Let’s keep the tradition strong and join together, even if it means virtually.”

Registration is $30 for adults and $15 for children, kindergarten through grade 12.

“Part of what makes the Rochester area so strong is the incredible investment in the schools. The RCS Foundation Hometown Hustle is a fun way to support students and meet the community. We are thrilled once again to be the presenting sponsor to kick off the Hometown Hustle,” said Chief Financial President and CEO Tom Dluzen. “Although we may not be gathering together at our Chief headquarters, the Chief team looks forward to ‘hustling’ alongside residents, teachers, local leaders and supporters.”

All are welcome to participate in the Hometown Hustle, including competitive racers, walkers, children and families with strollers. To view a short video from a previous event, please go to: https://bit.ly/2EAwEWO.

“Local families, businesses and community partners contribute to the success of the Hometown Hustle,” said Beydoun. “We are truly honored to be partnering with our presenting sponsor, Chief Financial Credit Union, and other patrons who recognize the value of supporting our schools. We also appreciate our families who come together, year after year, to show their RCS pride. Together, we can continue to do great things for our students.”
