Nov. 2 – Free Children’s Winter Clothing Swap at Ferndale Library

Ferndale Library Hosts Children’s Winter Clothing Swap on November 2nd

FERNDALE, Mich. (Oct 18, 2019)– The Ferndale Library is the host location for a free children’s winter clothing swap on Sat., Nov. 2, from 1 pm to 4 pm. This apparel exchange event, organized by a local parent, is designed to provide an opportunity to repurpose cold-weather items that older siblings inevitably grow out of so that parents of younger children can save a trip to a department store to keep their little ones warm this winter. An advance drop-box was put in place last week, located adjacent to the library’s Circulation Desk.

All children’s winter clothes, shoes, and accessories are needed for this event. The goal is to have everything collected in the advance donation been BEFORE Nov. 2, in time for the scheduled swap day. All items must be clean, free of rips and stains, bagged and/or grouped by their size. The clothing sizes being accepted range from preemie through size 14. Toys are also welcomed at this swap, but nothing plush or stuffed.

Children’s clothing swaps can be a great way to save money and provide something that looks and feels new, while also helping friends and neighbors by dropping off items that other children have inevitably outgrown. It’s a beneficial means of recycling clothing items directly to fellow community members, while also saving money by avoiding retail prices.
