Sept. 16 – Ferndale Candidate Forum by League of Women Voters

Ferndale, MI- The League of Women Voters Oakland Area is hosting a candidate forum for Mayor and City Council candidates of Ferndale. The forum takes place Monday, Sept. 16 at Ferndale City Hall. Schedule is:

6:30-7:05: Two candidates for mayor, 2-year term

7:10-8:50: Five city council candidates for two 4-year terms and four city council candidates for one 2-year term

Councilperson Melanie Piana recently resigned in order to run for Mayor. Brian Stawowy is also on the ballot.

There are two seats for City Council with a full four-year term. Candidates for that race are Ben Buttolph, Nada Daher, Augusto Flores, Kat Bruner James, and incumbent Councilperson Raylon Leaks-May.

There is also a two year term City Council seat that was vacated by Melanie Piana, who had to resign in order to run for Mayor due to the rules of the City Charter.  Rolanda Kelley, Laura Mikulski, Maryanne Wessels, and Dennis G. Whitttie are vying for that position.

Ferndale City Hall is located at 300 E. Nine Mile Rd.
